The commonly used materials for pipeline installation engineering are divided into metal materials and non-metallic materials. The commonly used metal materials mainly include steel pipes, pipe fittings, valves, flanges, profiles, etc. The commonly used non-metallic materials include masonry materials, insulation materials, anti-corrosion materials, non-metallic pipes, plastic and composite water pipes, etc.

Engineering project pipelines are consist of steel pipes with different requirements based on temperature, humidity, pressure, medium, etc., such as carbon steel pipes, alloy steel pipes, stainless steel pipes, etc. Seamless steel pipes, straight seam submerged arc steel pipes, high-frequency straight seam steel pipes, spiral steel pipes, and other steel pipes, will also be required according to their usage.

When pipelines need to be connected, branched, turned, or changed in diameter, they need to be connected with fittings. Commonly used pipe fittings include elbows, tees, reducers, and pipe joints.
