2. Inspection:
Factory Inner control: Raw material re- inspection ,Products Chemical Component Analysis, Mechanical Properties (Ultimate tensile strength, Yield strength, Elongation), Technical Properties (Flattening Test, Bending Test, Blow Test, Impact Test, DWT test), Exterior Size Inspection, Hydrostatic Test, UT test, X-ray Test. Final inspection.
3.Application: The pipes are mainly used as long distance transportation pipeline for oil, gas, liquid coal, water lines, on land and offshore.
Normal terms in the API5L standard:
1. Defect: refers to a defect where the size and/or distribution density exceed the acceptance limit specified in the standard.
2. Imperfection: refers to the discontinuity or irregularity on the internal or surface of the product wall thickness detected by the inspection method described in the standard.
3 Laminations: The layers formed by internal metal separation are usually parallel to the surface of the steel pipe.
4 pipe body: For welded steel pipes, it refers to the entire steel pipe excluding the weld seam and heat affected zone.
5 pipe ends: including steel pipes within a length range of 100mm at each end of the steel pipe.
6 Misalignment: The radial deviation between the edges of the steel strip/steel plate.
7. Cold forming: The process of forming steel strips or plates into steel pipes without heating.
8 Steel pipe grades: a name indicating the strength level of the steel pipe. Same as steel grade (steel name or grade).
9 Service conditions: The service conditions specified by the purchaser in the order contract (divided into non acidic or non-marine service, acidic and/or marine service).
10 Process required to be verified: refers to the final operation that affects the product characteristics to meet the requirements of this standard (except Chemical composition and size) during the steel pipe manufacturing process.
11 Product Specification PSL: The API5L standard establishes two levels of product specification levels, with PSL1 and PSL2 specifying different standard levels. PSL2 makes mandatory provisions for carbon equivalent, notch toughness, maximum yield strength, maximum tensile strength, yield ratio, and delivery status.
12 test batches: Using the same furnace batch and under the same steel pipe manufacturing conditions, a specified number of steel pipes with the same specified outer diameter and wall thickness are produced through the same process of pipe making.
13 Product analyses: Chemical analysis of steel pipes, grades, and strips.
14 Equipment calibrations: The activity of adjusting non-destructive testing equipment to the specified reference value.
15 Undercut: The groove formed by the weld metal on the base metal adjacent to the weld toe and not fully filled.
