The advantages of the straight seam submerged arc welded pipe, such as high strength, perfect detection means, uniform stress distribution, resistance to Z-direction tension, and excellent weather resistance, are favored by many state-owned enterprises such as China Building Materials, and China Railway Construction and so on.
The production cost of LSAW pipe is higher than that of high-frequency steel pipe and spiral steel pipe, but there is margin for price preference compared with seamless steel pipe. Longitudinal submerged arc (LSAW) welded pipe can produce the grade that high-frequency steel pipe and spiral steel pipe materials that cannot be produced. For example, high-frequency steel pipe is usually a common size for production in China, and is produced and stored in batches. Usually, the materials are Q235B, Q355B, and other harder steel plate materials cannot be produced by high-frequency ERW equipment and spiral pipe equipment in China. Longitudinal submerged arc welded pipe is widely used in domestic heavy steel Structural engineering, fluid pipeline engineering and foundation piling engineering. When the diameter of longitudinal submerged arc welded pipe is greater than 914.4, the standard stipulates that the steel pipe is allowed to have two straight welds. The products of longitudinal submerged arc welded pipes shall comply with GB/T3091-2008 standard for low pressure fluid steel pipes, GB/T9711.1 (2) -1997 executive standard for oil and gas pipelines, and ASTM A252 American executive standard for welded structural steel pipes. The production process of longitudinal submerged arc welded pipe is flexible and can produce any specification and wall thickness within the production range. The production efficiency is lower than that of high-frequency longitudinal seam welded pipe and spiral welded pipe. The advantage of LSAW pipe is that it can produce the sizes which high-frequency steel pipe, spiral steel pipe and even seamless steel pipe cannot made.
